Recently, I was looking through some old pictures that I have saved on a flash drive until I cam across some old backgrounds that I used for YouTube. Oh the nostalgia!
It's a shame that YouTube removed the ability to havechannel backgrounds. Not only did that allow channels to be stand out from others, but channel backgrounds allowed users to show their creativity.
Plus, creating YouTube channel backgrounds helped me to improve my skills with paint.NET. Each time I created one, I was able to compare my design to that of others. As a result, I gained ideas and helped to improve my knowledge of image editing and creating.
Sure, YouTube has channel banners now, but so does nearly every other social media site, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. However, the banner limitations restrict what users can do. If I only had a banner to work with when I first started using image editing software, then I probably would not have had any reason to improve my skills on image editing. Also, banners are not that special.
